Filtration of the pond water can be effected both mechanically and biologically. Mechanical filtration (usually filter foams) is physically remove organic and inorganic dirt particles from the pond water. The principle of biological filtration is to achieve better and quicker conversion of organic constituents by means of micro-organisms. Zeolite, Phosless, Carbon and Ceramic filter media encourage the rapid growth of this friendly bacteria which will ensure excellent water filtration.

This large surface area promotes settlement of micro-organisms and hence the breakdown of toxic ammonia that occurs through fish waste and unconsumed food.
