Pond and terracotta pot water feature |
Moving
water can be easily created using a suitable pump. Firstly the pond size
should be decided upon and excavated to the required shape and depth.
This hole should then be lined with an underlay and then a high quality pond liner.
The edges can then be disguised using a selection of paving, turf, rock
and aggregates.
To create a water feature, firstly select a suitable terracotta
pot. Some are specially designed for water features
and are pre-drilled to accept a hose. These are the best ones to choose,
as drilling terracotta can be a risky process! A pump can now be selected
depending on the size of the pot. A flow rate of between 675 and 4500
litres per hour should be used. Statutory water feature pumps are the ideal choice and can be connected to a variety
of hose sizes to suit the required flow rate. These pumps can also be regulated to give the desired effect, simply by adjusting the supplied ball valve dial. Lastly the hose should be
sealed into the back of the pot using a silicone based sealer.
