What is a Fountain Nozzle? - FAQ

What is a Fountain Nozzle?

A fountain nozzle is essentially an attachment which usually fits onto the top of a fountain pump to create an attractive water display.  Much like the sprinkler head on the end of your garden hose, the fountain nozzle will convert a single jet of water into something far more impressive and interesting.

Most of our fountain nozzles are fitted with a special BSP (British Standard Pipe) threaded fitting which can be used to screw onto the water pump outlet.  The water then splits into different directions to create a decorative display.  The options are virtually endless and it’s quite easy to swap one nozzle attachment to another at a later date, should you wish.  You can find our full range of Fountain Nozzles here

Generally, the 1st question to consider is;  what type of fountain display do I like?  Once you’ve chosen your favourite nozzle, the next question is;  how high would I like the display to go?  This is often dictated by the size of the reservoir, pond or pool you are placing the fountain pump in to.  Generally, you shouldn’t go higher than ½ the width at the narrowest point.  So for example, if the pond is 2m x 2m, the fountain shouldn’t go higher than 1 metre.  This is to ensure that the water stays within the catchment area on windier days.

The style of nozzle and the display height will dictate the pump required.  All of our fountain nozzle pages have recommendations for the correct pump for you.  If you need assistance in selecting fountain nozzles or pumps, give the Water Garden Ltd team a call.
