The 2m x 2m Wildlife Pond Kit is intended for creation of a soil dug wildlife pond with dimensions of 2 metres long, 2 metres wide and a maximum depth of 0.75 metres. A pond of this size will contain approximately 3,000 litres of water. A wildlife pond is intended as a habitat for wildlife and should contain no fish. This pond kit uses a high quality flexible liner with protective underlay, and a submersible all-in-one pond filter with integrated UV light.
This pond kit contains:
- 1 x 0.75mm thick, flexible EPDM sheet liner 4m x 4m.
- 1 x Roll of heavy duty protective pond underlay 16m².
- 1 x Filtral UVC 3000 Premium all-in-one pond filter with 9 watt UV.
Description
The 2m x 2m Wildlife Pond Kits come supplied with the following products:
A 0.75mm thick, 4 Metre x 4 Metre flexible EPDM Pond Liner.
EPDM is a high quality synthetic rubber lining material, ideal for pond lining due to its strength, suppleness and stretch. 0.75mm material thickness allows for a strong and reliable lining membrane that conforms to pond contours very well. SealEco EPDM is manufactured using environmentally friendly materials and production practices and does not leach any residues, making this a great product for wildlife and fish ponds alike. EPDM is black in colour. EPDM liners are fully UV stable and can tolerate extremes of temperature, hot or cold. EPDM liners are guaranteed for a lifetime, covering product defect.
16m² of Heavy Duty Protective Underlay.
Heavy duty protective underlay is a thick, matted geotextile material intended to protect the pond liner from weeds, plant roots and sharp objects in the soil. The matted formulation of this underlay makes penetration through the material very difficult, causing roots to take a path of lesser resistance when growing beneath the pond. Heavy duty underlay is supplied as a roll, in this case 2 metres wide and 8 metres long. Protective underlay can be cut into strips using sharp scissors, and should be laid prior to laying the EPDM liner, with strips of underlay overlapping so that nothing can grow up between strips. Heavy duty underlay is non-biodegradable and will remain intact beneath the pond liner permanently.
An OASE Filtral UVC 3000 submersible pond filter.
This product combines a pump, UV clarifier, foam and ceramic filtration media into a single, compact unit that can simply be placed on the floor on the pond and connected to a power supply, with no hose pipes required. This filter and UV unit will circulate the pond water to prevent stagnation and algae issues that occur in standing water. The Filtral UVC 3000 has a 10 metre power cable. The optional accessories Filtral Fountain Kit and Filtral Aeration Set can be used to adapt the filter outlet to produce a fountain and/or aerated water outlet. The Filtral can also be used to operate a small waterfall or stream. To do this, simply attach a flexible hose pipe to the filter outlet and redirect the flow to the head of the stream. To clean the filter, simply remove the unit from the pond, take the top section off and squeeze the foams in a bucket of pond water. The 9 Watt UV lamp should be replaced every 12-18 months. The Filtral UVC 3000 is guaranteed for 2 years.
